Media Center Policies and Procedures

Hours of Operation:
--The library is open during the regular school day from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. You may get a pass from your teacher to come to the Media Center and check out books during this time. If you need to use the Media Center outside of these hours please see Ms. MacDonald to make arrangements.

Checkout:
--Students may check out up to two books for 21 days, and may renew once if there is not a hold on the book.

Returns:
--Return all items by the due date, 21 days after check out.
--There are no fines for overdue materials, but if a student fails to return an item(s) over a period of time, the student will receive an overdue notice. The notice is also a bill for the item(s) in case the item is actually lost. The student is expected to either return the item or to pay for it if it is lost or damaged.
--Each student is responsible for the library materials he/she borrows. If an item is lost or damaged while it is officially in a student's care, the student is expected to pay the replacement cost of the item. Checking out materials for friends is not allowed.

Behavior:
--No food, candy, drinks or chewing gum.
--Return all materials to the shelf when finished.
--Show care when using all library resources.

Middle School students may come to the library before school and during breaks. To work on a teacher-assigned project after school, students must have a note from a parent and permission from a teacher.
